1. After 10 years of owning my own holiday home, my very first tip to anyone who is thinking of following in my footsteps is simple: Do it! You wont regret the decision. Having your own Holiday Home gives you a level of freedom, flexibility, comfort and convenience, plus value for money, which no other commodity or service can match.2. Choose your park before you choose your caravan. You can always change your holiday home for a different model but there is nothing you can do regarding the park on which it is sited, other than moving to another site, which could prove very costly indeed. Make sure your ideal holiday home park has a base perfectly positioned to accommodate the size and design of your holiday home to prevent any heart ache later.3. When choosing a holiday home park, aim for one which is no more than two hours drive from your home, preferably less. That way you will make more use of your caravan and your travelling costs will be reduced.4. Pay a few visits to your chosen park before committing yourself, spending a few hours each time to look round, try out facilities, talk to park management regarding the parks plans for the future and more importantly chat to other caravan owners on the site. That way; you have a more detailed all round view of the park.5. Ask for the parks vital statistics: 1. That way; you have a more detailed all round view of the park.5. Zoos have been one of the favorite activities for Americans for a long time starting with the very first zoo being the Philadelphia Zoo in 1859. Since then, most states have at least one zoological park but there are some that stand above and beyond the rest of them with extra features like a touch tank, bird houses, safari and water fountains and parks. This article will mention the top 4 zoos in the United States and the reasons they stand above the others. The ones that made the top four are the Columbus Zoo, San Diego Zoo, Lion Country Safari and the Phoenix Zoo.The Columbus Zoo has also been around since the late 1800s making it the second oldest zoo in the country. This had always been a nice zoo, but it completely changed when the famous animal trainer, Jack Hanna took rus.ru> over the direction of the zoological park. He changed many things about it with great improvements and now it houses one of the largest animal collections in the world with rus.ru> over 7,000 animals at the zoo. If you are going on a trip, whether it is a weekend jaunt or a month long journey, there are quite a few things that you must know before you go. Writing a list out as soon as you know that you are planning a trip is a very good idea, and can end confusion and heart break later. The longer the trip, the more planning will be involved, and the longer the list. Once the list becomes longer than four or five items, split it with your travel partner and make sure that you are both aware of who is responsible for which part of the list. Good communication is paramount at this stage of the trip.First things first: do you know where and when you are going? Is this a place that you are familiar with? Is the trip one that will be planned well in advance or is it a spur of the moment, spontaneous thing? Will the trip itself be for pleasure or for business? Who will pay for what, and how will payment be made? These are the preliminary questions that must be answered before any planning can be made. Dont skip ahead to the shopping and packing portion before these issues are in hand.If you know the place that you are heading to, you will know the basic weather conditions and acceptable dress, but if you have never been there you will probably need to do some research. 1. Origin and ConstructionThe clouds, draping the mountains like strands of silver steel wool, hung low rus.ru> over the Lynn Canal, gateway to the historic city of Skagway, Alaska, itself the origin of thousands of stampeders who had begun their 45-mile treks rus.ru> over the White Pass Summit toward the Klondike gold fields of the Yukon in Canada in 1897 and 1898. The throngs continued to infiltrate the area today from vessels which also sailed from Seattle, but all disembarked from one of the many daily cruise ships which docked a short distance away. The passengers crowding the White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad Depot spilled out to the concrete platform and into one of many departing trains, including those to Fraser, British Columbia. I myself would trace the path of the gold seekers to the White Pass Summit, located 2,865 feet above sea level on the United States-Canada border, but would do so on the rail which had been built to replace the rus.ru> overland foot trail and capitalize on the demand for travel created by the historic event. The imminent journey had actually had its origin some 110 years ago. Prospectors, searching for gold along the Yukon River, had not yielded their first crop until 1896 when George Carmack and two Indians, Skookum Jim and Dawson Charlie, unc rus.ru> overed some gold flakes in Bonanza Creek in the Yukon, although it had been another year before the world had been alerted to the disc rus.ru> overy when the Seattle Post-Intelligencer published its now-famous headline of "GOLD! GOLD! GOLD!" in its July 17, 1897 issue shortly after disembarkation of 68 prospectors from the Steamer Portland in Seattle, Washington. The promise of seemingly instant, easy wealth, coupled with the deprivation of the Depression, sparked an historical event which involved 100,000 players and would ultimately shape parts of Alaska and the Yukon itself. With the exception of seasonal steamship service on the Yukon River, and road and railroad construction not permitted in Alaska until Congress had passed the Homestead Act of 1898, there had been no internal infrastructure to support the stampeders access to the klondike gold fields. The Yukon itself, the vast, thinly populated expanse of land located above the 60th parallel in northwestern Canada which shares its border with Alaska and accurately earns its self-proclaimed slogan of "larger than life," is a topographically diverse, but ruggedly insurmountable territory of barren, treeless plains, boreal forests, rugged mountains, glaciers, and mirror-reflective lakes and rivers inhabited by Canadas First Nations people and abundant wildlife.Because of its high latitude, it experiences more than 20 hours of daylight in the summer, but fewer than five in the winter, replaced, instead, by the northern lights known as the "aurora borealis." Aside from the major "cities," most communities are only accessible by floatplane or dogsled. The Yukons history is, in essence, that of the Gold Rush, and traces its path to five significant locations in both the United States and Canada. The first of these, Seattle, Washington, had served as the gateway to the Yukon.
