Many times when planning a trip one starts wondering if it is a better idea to travel alone or to travel with a companion. Companion could be anyone; a friend, a colleague, someone known, boyfriend/girlfriend or husband for that matter. Does traveling with a buddy enhance the travel experience or does it make it less interesting. There are advantages of both, depending on what your expectations are from the trip.
People travel for different reasons; some for fun, some for adventure, some to discover own self etc. It is very important to know what is it that you want when you travel. The next is to understand if the person you are planning to travel with has tastes, interests similar to yours and also is he or she traveling for the same reasons. The next is to understand if the person you are planning to travel with has tastes, interests similar to yours and also is he or she traveling for the same reasons.
You need to understand this well before deciding if you want to make the trip together.Sometimes one wants to travel just to relax with family and friends which is a great time to have buddies and friends accompanying you, but sometimes you might want to go on a nature trail while the buddy is only looking for a fun trip so if you do team up and take the trip one of you is going to be disappointed and it will be not half as fun as it would be if you had gone alone. If you are partners in real life does not mean you will enjoy traveling together too all the time. Sometimes you do not want to travel with anyone, just want to be on your own to go anywhere you want and do what you want. You can spend hours shopping or in the bar with local friends with out being told to do something else, and of course there is no one to argue with unnecessarily. You will also be able to make more friends and interact with more people when you are alone as compared to when you are a couple. This is also a good time to discover yourself, understand more about you and spend more time with yourself. On the other hand traveling with a buddy can be a different experience in itself, apart from company and having someone to share the experiences you also have help handling tough situations. You get to know the person more because you are together the entire time fight crisis together. It is also a good test of relationship, coz when you travel, you spend more time with each other then what you do even when you are living together, at home you have your respective jobs friends space but when on trip to a new place you have no one but each other and no where to go apart from being together. If you both survive till the time you are back then you know you have a rock solid relationship. Many people are not so lucky and part ways after the trips taken together. There are no hard and fast rules, the decision to travel alone or with a buddy will depend on the individuals preference and the reason for making the trip. This is not a permanent choice and could change for different trips and at different stages of life.. Source: http://ezinearticles.com/?Traveling-Alone-Vs-Traveling-With-a-Buddy&id=3887294
